Reporting to the Solutions Engineer Team Leader you will be working as part of a team responsible for technical planning, build configuration planning, building, configuring and testing solutions. Also responsible for deploying and integrating solutions into the live environment, this will involve close working with “our client” operations team.
Role:
• Ownership of build configuration documentation relevant to Unix deliveries, working closely with Client infrastructure architecture teams
• Reviewing pre sale solution architecture documents for new opportunities
• Assisting Solution Architecture team on presale engagements on a limited basis
• Technical delivery planning – working with project manager to plan out complex IT infrastructure deployments
• Act as technical delivery lead for complex Unix based projects
• Provide a named client technical delivery contact for delivery projects, providing excellent client service
• Solution Configuration design – planning out configuration variables ready for installation
• Solutions Build – server hardware, firmware, service packs, operating systems and variety of server application software etc
• Testing configured solutions – confirming that the solution is correctly built prior to go live
• Asset Management – ensuring that the assets are correctly recorded, tracked and managed
• Knowledge retention – feedback to the relevant internal and external contacts and documenting solutions
Person:
At least 5 years Linux experience preferable background around build, configuration and support. Solid understanding of Solaris desirable, proven ability to pickup new technology quickly. Installation and configuration of software and applications on Sun/HP/Dell and VMware platforms. Exposure to veritas clustering and general load balancing. Ideally, previous experience of full solution functionality, failover and resilience testing. Experience of Apache httpd server, Tomcat essential and MySQL would be a nice to have, along with San connectivity and multi-pathing.
Excellent demonstrable experience of Linux (and ideally Solaris), server technologies and applications. A good understanding of multi-tier web infrastructures.
Excellent communicator and strong client facing / requirements gathering skills
Confident, team player and a self starter
