Job Description
Job Description The Security Architect role promotes best practice enterprise Security architecture and design principles for the use of existing and new Novell technology across an enterprise. When deployed strategically across the enterprise best practices can be shared, synergies can be exploited and cross-pollination will take place. The Security Architect focuses on maximizing the value delivered by the customer's investment in Novell, and facilitating the successful delivery and ROI of large-scale implementations that use Novell technology. Major responsibilities include: Promoting best practices for architecture and design principles for the use of existing and new Novell technology across an enterprise. Provide real-world experience and credibility to the customer on the feasibility of the proposed solution architecture and the estimates and resources to deliver the solution. Helping customer maximizing ROI by leveraging current investments and implementing a cost recovery model for shared services Mentoring customer on best practices and standards across the security framework Assist customer in development of a roadmap based on experience to forecast and surmount organizational challenges Educating and training staff about Security benefits, Security skill set, and best practices Establish strong working relationships with the customer as a trusted technical advisor and IT solution partner Communication conduit to other Novell groups including product engineering, support, education, etc. as necessary Establishes IT architectures for highly complex customer environments. Works with the customer at an expert level on IT planning cycles looking forward. Advice customer in associating and prioritizing implementation activity with business strategy and drivers Helping customer realize reliability, scalability, availability and security across the enterprise Assisting customer in leveraging security implementation to deliver rapid, low-cost development Identify any technical gaps that the customer may display during Sales meetings and offer technical solutions that map to customer business pain Building and implementing end-to-end pilots to prove solution viability Assists in presales efforts by attending meetings, presenting to customers, and helping to prepare design and scope of work documents Provides presales assistance within highly complex customer environments Build proposals and reply to RFP/RFI’s. Incorporates third party products in order to provide the customer with a complete solution. Proficiency in translating technical concepts into business solutions and clearly communicating to all levels and technical abilities within client organizations.  Qualifications/Necessary Skills Qualifications and required skills include: Technical depth and breadth. Proven ability to define, communicate, and deliver solution architectures and high level designs that incorporate both Novell and non-Novell technologies to technical and non-technical audiences. Command a broad understanding of information technology including: operating systems, network and internet technologies, web services and SOA, open standards, database systems, information security, development and management tools Extensive experience with all aspects of full life-cycle software development projects with the ability to articulate pros and cons of various development methodologies Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent presentation skills Proactive and positive can-do attitude Self-starter and fast learner Customer focused team player Sets, prioritizes, and achieves goals Effectively manages their time Attention to detail and creativity Must show tact and diplomacy when dealing with customer's sensitive issues Strong facilitation and negotiation skills Proven ability to manage customer expectations Willing and eager to learn new technologies  Minimum Qualifications Must possess 5 years experience producing viable security architectures 4+ years experience in lead architect role of enterprise security programs A minimum of 12 years of relevant work experience Experience architecting solutions with Novell products Specific vertical industry knowledge and experience a plus Hands-on experience with Novell security products & development tools   Education Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience Higher degree preferred CISSP certification is major plus
